Review Of The 2008 World Almanac [19 Feb 2008|12:03pm]

[ mood | calm ]

First of all, I am sorry for not keeping this community more updated. In order to change this, here is my review of the "The World Almanac And Book Of Facts-2008".

This being the 140th almanac continues to combine the traditional topics with an online link to more up-to-date information. The special topics for this edition is the history of almanacs and the 2008 US presidential election. Along with two sections of colored photos, there are mini black-and-white pictures showing historical people in events in the sections on the US Presidents, US History and World History. The section on astronomy has been updated to show that Pluto is no longer a planet in our solar system.

Be sure to get your 2009 edition since it might election results and lots on the Pro Baseball drug scandel.

"WABF-2005" Review [26 Feb 2005|01:58pm]

[ mood | busy ]

Here is my review of the "World Almanac and Book of Facts-2005".

Likes: No dramatic changes to deal with.; More pictures used throughout it.; Special section on Hispanic Americans had good hard data about a topic that gets a lot of press time but few details.

Dislikes: No 2004 presidential election results. I know that had to goto press, but they could have waited a little longer.; It needed a special section contuing the facts about the wars and peace in Afghanistan and Iraq.

What to look forward to: 2004 presidential election results with full breakdown.; Results from the various celebraty trials; Maye a sneak peak at who might by running in 2008

Overall it is a good read. I think the triva questions scattered throughtout it makes it more fun to flip threw.

Welcome All World Almanac Fans [24 Feb 2005|05:46pm]

[ mood | accomplished ]

I would just like to welcome everyone to my community that is devoted to world almanacs.

I began this community to allow those who collect, read and use world almanas to have a place to discuss them. We might be a very small minority, but hopefully we will grow in numbers.

I have been collecting world almanacs since 1990. I have bought everyone since then. I love reading them from cover to cover. I like to use them to look up facts, trivia and really anything I am curious about.

I like them because they have so much information to use. They are a time capsule of how our world was in a particular year. I used them all threw college, and now use them to help my children with their school work.

I hope we will all have fun, learn new things and get to know each other in the near future.
